The fashion event of the Big Isle social season — the second annual Haute Trash Fashion Show — will be presented at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20.
“Tickets are going fast, and advance tickets are a must for this sell-out event,” said Dennis Taniguchi, executive director of the sponsoring East Hawaii Cultural Center.
This event is in conjunction with the 24th annual Trash Art Show which opened last week at the EHCC in downtown Hilo.
Tickets are at the EHCC, Keaau Natural Foods and Volcano Garden Arts. General admission is $18 in advance or $20 at the door. VIP front row seating is $25, with more than half of these tickets already sold. Call EHCC at 961-5711 for more information.
This show is a benefit for East Hawaii Cultural Center and promotes recycling at the same time. There will be live music by the Elementalz, local celebrity judges, an introduction by trash show founder Ira Ono and, of course, Robin Worley (aka Rayona) as emcee.
Worley will be accepting trash fashion design entries from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the EHCC, with an entry fee of $10.
“Selected entries will have the opportunity to strut their design down the 100-foot runway, and winners will receive prizes,” Taniguchi said.
