Mongolian Barbecue Saturday in Volcano
Cooper Center’s semiannual Mongolian Barbecue extravaganza will be presented from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at the community center on Wright Road in Volcano Village.
“This weekend’s dinner is going to be one of the best, so plan on joining us,” said Cooper Center Council President Linda Ugalde. “We have added many new vegetables to our repertoire, and this year we added fish to our protein choices, so that we now offer chicken, beef, pork, fish and tofu.
“So now we have everyone covered — the carnivores, pescatorians and the vegans. We have a designated wok just for the vegans, and we will have over 20 choices of vegetables for you.
“For our newcomers, this is how a Mongolian Barbecue works. When you come in, we hand you a plate for your raw veggies and a bowl for your protein choices. We weigh it out and only charge 70 cents per ounce,” explained Ugalde.
“You then proceed on down to the lower lanai where our ‘wokateers’ await at their wok stations. While waiting your turn, enjoy the live music provided by Joe Camacho and friends. Your cook will stir fry your meal, right in front of you, adding any condiments you like. While your meal is cooking, you may choose brown or white rice to go with your meal. A drink of your choice and a luscious dessert is included, all in one price.
“Proceed to a communal decorated table and enjoy a good time with new friends.”
Everyone is invited. Credit cards are welcomed.
“The Cooper Center sponsors and puts on this event as a fundraiser for everything else we do throughout the year,” said Ugalde. “Join in all the fun and camaraderie and magic that happens every six months.”
