The University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s golf team is tied for third place heading into today’s final round of the St. Martin’s Invitational.
The 10-team NCAA Division II tournament is being played in Olympia, Wash. It’s the season-opener for the UHH golfers.
Tarleton State fired a 326 total to grab the opening-round lead. It is followed in team scoring by Victoria-BC (335), with UHH and Western Washington at 336. British Columbia (343) and St. Martin’s round out the top five.
Freshman Shannon Abarra carded an 82 on Friday to lead the Vulcans. She is tied for seventh place while teammate Kristen Sawada had an 83 and was tied for 11th. Also competing for UHH are Erika Morihiro (84, T-13th), Kacie Harada (87, T-20th) and Nyssa Aoki (88, T-24th).
Victoria-BC’s Megan Woodland holds the individual lead after opening with a 77.
