RICHMOND, Texas — Highly touted twin guards Aaron and Andrew Harrison of Texas say they’re headed to Kentucky.
The Fort Bend Travis prep stars, now seniors, announced their college choice at their school on Thursday. They chose to play for coach John Calipari and the Wildcats over Maryland and SMU.
Both 6-foot-5, the Harrisons led their school to a 36-4 record and the 5A state championship game in 2011-12. Aaron averaged 18.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists; Andrew averaged 12.1 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals last season.
The Wildcats won their school’s eighth championship last season, Calipari’s third in Lexington. Six players from the championship team were drafted, a record.
The Harrisons only made verbal commitments. Players can begin signing letters of intent for the 2013-14 season on Nov. 14.
