The 25th annual St. Joseph School Country Fair will be staged from 8 a.m-3 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Joseph High School grounds. As always, admission is free and everyone is invited.
“This is the school’s main fundraising event,” said a fair spokesman. “It has become a Big Island tradition, and we are proud to offer this fun-filled day for the community to gather and enjoy. There’s a little something for everyone.”
The merriment includes carnival-style games for kids of all ages, a keiki train, jumping castle/water slide, laser tag and lots more.
Each year there is a great entertainment lineup. This year’s program will include Ahumanu from Maui, along with longtime friends Bruddah Cuz, Dru Kekaualua & Friends, Esther Zamora, Old School, the Girls Nite Out Band and Prodi-G.
The Country Fair will offer the usual favorite grinds, including hot malasadas, plate lunches, fresh baked goods and Thai salad. This year, the fair committee also will debut a breakfast plate from Big Island Grindz.
The Mauna Kea Astronomy Community will be sharing hands-on displays. There will also be exhibits from the Hawaii County Fire Department, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Department of Agriculture and various participants from the Big Island local small business communtiy.
The fair will also include handmade arts and crafts, plants and produce, pickles and preserves, and cinders donated by DeLuz Trucking and Gravel. Door prizes will be awarded hourly, with the grand prize drawing at 2:45 p.m. Call 935-4935 for more information.
