On Aug. 16, the Hawaii County Office of Aging (HCOA) unveiled its Outstanding Older Americans display and plaque at the Aging & Disability Resource Center in Hilo.
This display will perpetually honor Hawaii County’s Outstanding Older Americans, a title that has been awarded to older individuals in Hawaii County each year since 1968.
“If you are one of the 87 to have earned this prestigious award, a family member, or a close friend of someone from this elite group, the Office of Aging encourages you to stop by and view the display,” said Nicolas K. Los Banos of the Office of Aging.
The center is at 1055 Kinoole St., known to many as the site of the former Sun Sun Lau Restaurant.
