Members of the public are invited to join the League of Women Voters of Hawaii County, the American Association of University Women, Hilo Branch and the Volcano Community Association in listening to and posing questions to candidates at forums at Cooper Center at 19-4030 Wright Road, just up from the Old Volcano Highway.
The forum on Oct. 15 from 5:30 p.m., will feature state representative district 3 candidates Fred Fogel, Marlene Hapai and Richard Onishi, followed by a brief break. At 6:45 p.m., the forum will feature candidates for prosecuting attorney, Lincoln Ashida and Mitch Roth.
The forum at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 will feature Hawaii County Council District 6 candidates Maile David and Brenda Ford.
The forums will be moderated by Todd Belt, associate professor and chairman of the Department of Political Science at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, on the 15th and by Erica Johnson, co-president of the AAUW, on the 22nd. The public is invited to submit questions in writing for the candidates.
Members of the Volcano Community Association will provide light refreshments before the forums and after the break on the 15th.
“Please do come meet the candidates,” said an LWV spokeswoman.
