Police have charged a 31-year-old Kona man and 30-year-old Kona woman for an alleged road rage incident on Wednesday in Kailua-Kona.
At about 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Kona officers responded to information that the driver of a maroon Jeep had honked at a blue sedan after it had reportedly cut her off while leaving the Kona Commons shopping center on Makala Boulevard.
When both cars were stopped for a red light, the man driving the sedan and a woman passenger reportedly got out of the car and confronted the Jeep’s driver.
After the alleged confrontation, the Jeep’s passenger door was damaged and the woman from the sedan had a small puncture wound to her forehead.
All three persons were arrested for their alleged roles in the confrontation.
None of them required medical treatment.
On Friday David F. Torres Jr. wascharged with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and criminal property damage. His bail was set at $11,000.
His wife, Shaundalinn Torres, was charged with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and third-degree assault. Her bail was set at $12,000. They are being held at the Kona police cellblock pending their initial court appearance on Monday.
The Jeep’s driver, 42-year-old Shannon Jensen of Kona, was released from police custody pending further investigation.
