Band director Kawakami voted into ASBDA

Wayne Kawakami, band director at Kamehameha High School Hawaii Campus, was recently elected into the 900-member American School Band Directors Association at its biennial convention in Asheville, N.C.

“Only nominees of established personal and professional integrity and reputation who are engaged in exemplary teaching and directing are eligible for invitation into membership,” said a spokesman.

Kawakami joins 13 others from the 50th state as members of the association.
