Waiakea senior Ciera Min shot her best round of the tournament but fell a stroke short of qualifying for the final day at the Calloway World Junior Golf Championships in San Diego.
Min, the reigning Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion, carded a 2-over 74 on Thursday at Torrey Pines Golf Course-North to finish at 11-over 227 in the girls 15-17 division.
Nani Yanagi (79), a 2012 Waiakea graduate, was 24-over after her best effort of the week.
At 7-under, Thailand’s Benyapa Niphatsophon (70) took a six-shot lead into the final round over Honolulu’s Eimi Koga (69).
Six other Big Island golfers wrapped up play in their respective divisions at courses around the San Diego area, with Hilo’s Kiersten Saludares posting the highest finish.
Saludares (7-over 65) tied for 24th in girls 7-8 at 40-over 211. In boys 7-8, Hilo’s Dysen Park (9-over 71) tied for 42nd at 33-over.
Hilo’s Riku Omata (9-over 71) finished 23-over 209 to tie for 52nd in boy 9-10. Waimea’s Titan Oshura (76) was another five strokes back in a tie for 67th.
In girls 9-10, Hilo’s Lacey Uchida (52-over 220 total) was 59th, while Hilo’s Mika Duldulao was 67th at 108-over.
