The Hawaiian Paradise Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association will host round-robin candidate forums on the next two Sundays at the HPP Activity Center at 17th and Maku‘u Drive.
The forum from 3 to 7 p.m. on July 15 will feature candidates running for County Council District 4 and the offices of mayor and prosecuting attorney.
On July 22 from 1 to 3 p.m., the group will host the candidates for State Senate District 2 and State House of Representatives District 4.
The forums will follow a format referred to as “speed dating” that was introduced into Hawaii by the League of Women Voters for use in candidate forums as early as 2008. In this format, each of the candidates will have a short time, two to three minutes, to introduce him/herself.
“Then while the constituents remain seated in groups around the tables, the candidates rotate among all the tables in turns, so that all of the voters will be able to meet each of the candidates at close range and have the opportunity to ask questions and to engage with each of the the constituents,” said spokeswoman June Conant.
Finally, candidates will have another two to three minutes to make concluding remarks. The forums are open to the public.
