Bodhi Whitmore, 9, Carina Cook, 10, Katelynn Kubo, 14 and Mira Chrysostomou, 14, all swam for Hilo Aquatics at the fourth annual Rainbow Invitational held recently at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Accompanied by coach Cathy Ogino-Williams, Cook improved her times in eight of 10 events and reached state qualifying in all in finishing eighth in her age group. Whitmore made state times in five events, swam three personal bests and finished third in his division. Chrysostomou and Kubo returned home with medals as well.
On Saturday and Sunday at Kamehameha’s Naeole Pool, Big Island swimmers will have one last opportunity to qualify for states.
