Two members of the University of Hawaii at Hilo Marine Science Department have earned master’s degrees from UH-Manoa.
Michael Childers, instructor, and John Coney, education specialist, were awarded master’s of education in educational technology while maintaining full-time jobs at UHH during the three years it took them to complete the program.
“The class was almost entirely online, although we did travel to Honolulu at the beginning of the program and at the end of the first year,” Childers said.
“Technology’s role in education will only continue to grow,” Coney said. “So discovering innovative ways to integrate emerging technologies with teaching and learning can’t help but make us better educators.”
This fall, Childers will teach an online class via Laulima and Blackboard.
