Henry Park fired a 1-over 72 on Monday in Honolulu to advance to match play at the Manoa Cup.
Park, a 2009 Kealakehe graduate and a three-time Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up, made the turn at No. 18 bogey-free at 2-under. After a rough stretch in which he bogeyed four of seven holes, he carded his third birdie of the round on No. 8 to tie for the 16th best score at Oahu Country Club.
The University of Hawaii senior will face Kauai High golfer Pono Tokioka (77) at 7:21 today in the round of 64 at the Hawaii State Match Play Championship.
Kyle Suppa, Nick Ushijima, Richard Hattori and Brandan Kop each shot 68 to lead qualifying. Two-time defending champion David Fink is the top seed after drawing a bye into match play.
