Police have identified a man who died Monday on a Waimea roof as 49-year-old Barry Bokmej of Kawaihae.
Bokmej and another man were hired to make repairs at a home on Alo Loa Street. Bokmej was reportedly pressure-washing the roof while the other worker was weed-whacking the yard. The person who hired the men stopped at the house to check on their progress and found Bokmej lying face down on the roof and unresponsive. When the two men on the ground were unable to get Bokmej’s attention, they called 911 at about 2:55 p.m..
Fire Department rescue personnel retrieved Bokmej’s body from the roof. According to a written Fire Department statement, Bokmej was already dead.
Police do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
