The Hawaii County Fire Department retrieved a dead body from the roof of a building in Waimea on Monday.
Firefighters received the alarm at 2:34 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 2:39, according to a Monday evening press release.
Upon arriving at the two-story home on Old Mamalahoa Highway between Mokuloa and Iokua streets, firefighters discovered a 49-year-old man lying face down on the roof of the building.
The steep pitch of the roof hampered firefighters’ attempts to retrieve the victim 35 feet above the ground, but they were finally able to get him. The scene was then turned over to the Police Department.
The release provided no further details.
