Jan Baldado, training coordinator with the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union, was named its Employee of the Year at the organization’s annual membership meeting and luncheon on May 12.
Baldado, who has been employed at the credit union for close to nine years, received multiple nominations for this award. She is recognized as a reliable team player with the Credit Union’s Call Center and a “guiding light” to new employees. Baldado has been active in a number of the Credit Union committees, as well as multiple community activities.
In presenting the award to Baldado, Hawaii Community FCU President/CEO James Takamine said Baldado was an employee “who always goes the extra mile to make our members happy. She is appreciated by her co-workers for her attention to detail, her time management and organizational skills and her great patience.”
In addition, several Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union volunteers and staffers were recognized for their years of service. They are Volunteer Service Awardees Virginia Squier (30 years) and Peggy Ciriako (five years); Staff Service Awardees Norma Johnson (20 years); Laura DeBoer and Jane DeMello, 15 years; Jason Ayers, Patricia Cerney and Andrea Hori, 10 years; Davelynn Esperanza, Rosette Freitas, Todd Hashimoto, David Miyashita, Robyn Naihe, Charlene Pinho, Norma Riguis, Priscilla Sabado and Kenneth Shaw, each with five years of service.
The celebratory event, held at The Fairmont Orchid, included a proclamation from Hawaii County Mayor Billy Kenoi recognizing Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union’s 75th anniversary and proclaiming the day “Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union Day.”
The not-for-profit credit union is wholly owned by its more than 40,000 member/owners and the financial institution has branches in Honokaa, Kailua-Kona, Kaloko, Kealakekua and Kohala. It sponsors Student Credit Unions at Kealakehe, Kohala and Konawaena high schools, Children’s Savings Projects at elementary schools from Paauilo to Hookena, and supports numerous Island of Hawaii programs and events.
