The Hilo Woman’s Club invites the community to a big rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the HWC Clubhouse at 7 Lele St. in Hilo. Proceeds will be used for the club’s annual scholarships.
“Tantalizing aromas will be wafting from the Hilo Woman’s Club as members again will be offering freshly made malasadas, cinnamon bread, cinnamon rolls and other baked items at our semi-annual rummage sale,” said spokeswoman June Conant. Coffee and hot dogs will be available also. The HWC scholarship program began in 1953.
“The club members represent a wide variety of cultures, so there are many interesting items for sale. One member used to be in the catering business and has donated a number of punchbowls. There are many books, and one of the puzzle enthusiasts has finally cleaned out her closet. In order to assist the community in these difficult financial times, adult clothing will be $1 and children’s apparel 50 cents, except for aloha wear,” said Conant. “All items will be reasonably priced.”
“The Hilo Woman’s Club is celebrating its 91st year of supporting the East Hawaii community. All proceeds from this event are returned to the community; please come and support this worthy effort,” she said. For questions, call 935-9838.
