Professor John Stevens will give a free, illustrated talk on the life of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido, at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the University of Hawaii at Hilo in UCB-100.
Stevens visits Hilo as a guest instructor for a weekend seminar for Aikido of Hilo. He lived in Sendai, Japan, for 35 years and taught at the university there.
He has authored more than 30 books about aikido, Buddhism and Japanese culture. He is also an expert in Zen art. Stevens travels worldwide teaching and lecturing.
