A 43-year-old Puna man is in custody after allegedly stabbing three people Wednesday.
Jeffrey Robert Perkins was booked into Hilo police cellblock on suspicion of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault.
Police said Perkins stabbed a man, 28, and two women, 25 and 45, Wednesday evening at a Kapoho home, located at mile marker 7 on Highway 132.
The man, who had a severe head wound and lacerations, and the 25-year-old woman, who had a severe laceration to her upper body, underwent surgery at Hilo Medical Center. They were listed in serious condition.
The 45-year-old woman was treated at the scene for a minor injury.
Lt. Gregory Esteban said police were still establishing a motive.
