Dalai Lama’s visit to Hawaii beings this weekend
HONOLULU (AP) — The Dalai Lama’s stay in Hawaii begins this weekend.
On Saturday, the Tibetan spiritual leader is expected to visit Native Hawaiian cultural sites and talk to students gathered inside Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawaii.
The next day he’ll join a panel discussion with Native Hawaiian leaders and deliver a talk to the general public, also at the University of Hawaii area.
He’s expected to visit a public school on Monday.
It’s the Dalai Lama’s fourth visit to the islands and his first since 2008, when he went to Maui.
He’s here this time at the invitation of eBay Inc. founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife Pam. The trip is paid for by a grant the Honolulu couple made to the Hawaii Community Foundation.
