A Big Island all-star team finished third at the state AJA baseball tournament last weekend on Maui, beating Kauai 10-6 in the consolation game.
After losing its opener to Oahu, Tyler Thornley’s bases-clearing triple helped Hawaii strike for seven runs in the first inning against Kauai.
Aaron Correa struck out six and pitched all five innings of the time-limit game to pick up the victory, allowing six hits, four earned runs and two walks.
Shannon Camero, Bryce Onaga, Cody Urasaki, Warren Shikuma, Cortney Arruda and Correa all had RBIs.
Arruda went the distance on the mound in the 10-4 loss to Oahu, and Kiley Kawazoe and Onaga each had two hits.
Oahu beat Maui 3-2 in the title game.
