The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Kona patrol Officer Jason Foxworthy as Officer of the Month for February in a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday in Kailua-Kona.
Foxworthy was honored for risking his own safety to break up a fight.
While responding to another call Dec. 21, Officer Foxworthy encountered a fight between two men in front of Magic Sands Beach Park. One man called for help.
Foxworthy attempted to break up the fight but the alleged aggressor, Albert Manners, a 26-year-old professional mixed martial arts fighter, refused to stop. Foxworthy was kicked several times before he was able to handcuff Manners.
