Elks Hoop Shoot Contest on Dec. 8
The annual Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest is open to boys and girls ages 8 through 13. The free-throw shooting contest boasts the largest non-commercial, co-educational sports program in America, with more than 3 million participants each year.
Participants advance through local, district, state, regional and national levels. One boy and one girl in each of the three age categories (8-9, 10-11, 12-13) wins a national title at the finals in Springfield, Mass. The top six national finalists’ names are inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The local contest will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at Hilo Armory. For more info, contact Nathan Suganuma at 937-1948.
