Witnesses sought in fatal motorcycle crash

Police are renewing their request for witnesses to a fatal car/motorcycle crash on July 13 or anyone who saw either vehicle before the crash at the intersection of Kinoole and Mohouli streets.

Officers responding to a 10:05 p.m. call on July 13 determined that 55-year-old Earl M. Arakaki of Hilo had been riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle north on Kinoole Street when a 67-year-old Kailua-Kona woman driving a southbound 2003 Honda four-door sedan failed to yield the right of way and turned left in front of him.

Arakaki died Aug. 26 at Hilo Medical Center. The car’s driver wasn’t injured.

Police ask that anyone who saw either driver before or during the crash call Officer Tuckloy Aurello at 961-8119.
