Witnesses sought in fatal Glenwood crash
Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal Oct. 11 van-station wagon crash in front of Hirano Store in Glenwood.
Officers responding to a 4:35 p.m. call that day determined that a 2001 Ford four-door station wagon was traveling on Highway 11 and made a turn into Hirano Store.
A 33-year old Glenwood woman in a Dodge van crossed the centerline to avoid a collision but struck the Ford.
The driver of the Ford station wagon, John K. Isabel Jr. of Glenwood, was dead at the scene.
The van’s driver, Colleen Ahuna, was taken to Hilo Medical Center, with injuries described by police at the time as “incapacitating.” She was wearing a seat belt.
Police ask that anyone who saw either vehicle before or during the the crash call Officer Tuckloy Aurello at 961-8119.
