Magical mural in Honomu
Local artist Bob Weiss helps Alex Bridges, 6, paint a mural during the Honomu Gym summer art camp for keiki Wednesday afternoon. The mural was hung in the gym later in the afternoon. The art camp was created by high school senior Tess Okonek and her family when she wanted to find a way to give back to the community through art and to gain experience working with children. Although funding had been cut for the Honomu Gym’s Summer Fun program, donations through Carolyn Okonek’s yoga class, Abundant Life and Hilo Coast United Church of Christ made the camp possible.
