Vigil slated for violence victims
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A sign-waving and vigil to acknowledge victims of domestic violence and support survivors of abuse will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kona International Marketplace.
Long-time resident Jackie Kalani will be bestowed the Purple Ribbon award for her invaluable contributions in the area of domestic violence on Hawaii Island. Please wear purple to support domestic violence awareness. Call 895-4798 or 331-8777 for more information, said Napua Victorino, program services director for the Neighborhood Place of Kona.
