Subaru to host May 4 animal adoption event
Subaru Dealers of Hawaii invite the public across three islands to a Saturday pet adoption, food and supply drive on behalf of the Oahu SPCA, SPCA Maui and Hawaii Island Humane Society. Adorable dogs and kittens will be on site and ready to be adopted into loving homes. The public will receive a complimentary $25 Petco gift card from Subaru Hawaii with every adoption. Subaru will waive adoption fees for current or new Subaru owners.
The event will be staged from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Kona Subaru, 75-5793 Kuakini Highway, Kailua-Kona, and at Hilo Subaru at 1 Keaa St. in Hilo.
According to the ASPCA, approximately five to seven million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, of which 60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats are euthanized.
“Organizations such as the Oahu SPCA, SPCA Maui and Hawaii Island Humane Society devote themselves to finding loving forever homes for our furry friends. Countless hours, volunteers, energy, supplies, food and medical care are required to keep displaced animals off the streets, possibly endangering their lives and the lives of motorists,” said a company spokesman. “We encourage the community to support their local animal shelters by visiting Subaru of Hawaii dealerships on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island to donate much-needed pet care supplies and treats.”
