Benefit cookbook a boon to Big Isle charities
Aloha to all my invaluable friends.
I want to thank each and everyone of you for helping make “Annie’s Favorite Favorites Island Style Cookbook Volume II” a huge success! Being from Hilo and giving back to Hilo was very special to me and my entire family’s hearts. All of you were instrumental by sharing recipes, typing, editing, designing and printing (Island Heritage), taste testing (!), helping take cases of books to the Neighbor Islands and also to the mainland, selling them, writing articles for the newspapers, styling the food, taking the photos, setting up the kickoff party in Hilo and much, much more.
Can you believe we sold out over 4,300 books in seven weeks? I went to Hilo and met with the three nonprofit organizations benefiting from the proceeds from this cookbook to deliver their checks. The amount is kept confidential, but I can tell you that they were very pleasantly surprised and we all definitely exceeded their expectations. They were shocked! It was all possible because of your generous and supportive hearts.
The three recipients are Meals on Wheels-Hawaii County Nutrition Program, American Cancer Society-Hawaii Island and Special Olympics-East Hawaii Area.
Once again, much mahalo for all of your help, and I hope this picture puts big smiles on your faces, knowing we all made a difference.
