Born in Nekoma, N.D., he was a retired public school teacher in San Diego, substitute teacher in West Hawaii, member of Kona Faith Center and International Palm Society and U.S. Army veteran. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was a cashier at the former Kealakekua Chevron and the former Mrs. Field’s Cookies in Kealakekua and the former Waiakea Theater in Hilo.
