Maui seeks new home for DMV and tax offices
KAHULUI, Maui (AP) — Maui County is looking for a new home for its Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing and some of its tax offices.
County officials visited two potential sites Monday.
The owners of the Maui Mall said they want to rent the spaces to commercial enterprises. They’re giving the county until 2016 to relocate the service centers.
The owners were saying the county’s lease would end in 2015, but they gave the county more time and extended it by a year with the possibility of another extension.
Maui’s Budget and Finance Committee is planning to take up the matter July 29 in council chambers.
People who attended the site visits say relocating to the Maui Business Park would be a good idea.
