Astronaut landing at UH-Hilo for Onizuka day

NASA astronaut Jack Fischer, who logged 136 days in space in 2017 aboard the International Space Station, will be the featured speaker Jan. 27 during the 2018 Astronaut Ellison Onizuka Science Day at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Registration is being accepted for students in grades 4-12 and accompanying parents and teachers of any grade level or subject. To register, visit www.spacegrant.hawaii.edu/OnizukaDay.

Workshops will offer hands-on STEM learning in topics such as paper circuits, orientations to flight, making a quake, turtle science, exploring rainbows, CAD architectural design, Hawaiian star compass, hardware science, amazing rockets, science and cooking and forensic science, along with exhibits highlighting the work for science organizations on the Big Island.
