Mahalo from Boosters

On behalf of the University of Hawaii at Hilo Vulcan Boosters, we humbly offer our heartfelt thank you to you, our beautiful Big Island community, for your outpouring of support.

Your financial and other contributions have made it possible for us to benefit athletics, all student-athletes at our university and our community in unprecedented ways.

We also want to thank the Boosters of the past who have provided us invaluable guidance in charting our rich history and tradition of Vulcan athletics. We could not have accomplished so much in a short time without your wisdom and patience.

In raising funds in conjunction with the University of Hawaii Foundation, the Boosters have provided meaningful financial assistance to Vulcan athletics where state budgetary constraints have not been able to meet the university’s needs. For our Boosters, it is all about community engagement and the future of our island keiki.

In just the past two weeks, the university completed a volleyball camp and basketball camp for our keiki, with record-setting numbers in attendance. With the support of local coaches, teachers and mentors, the university was able to provide our keiki with an experience that will last a lifetime.

Special recognition goes to Vulcan Athletic Director Pat Guillen. Through his visionary leadership, the Boosters are optimistic about the future of Vulcan athletics in our community, as Pat has demonstrated a commitment to the values of our organization and its continued growth.

The public is welcome to a meet-and-greet with Vulcan coaches and student-athletes Sunday, Sept. 10 (time to be determined), at UH-Hilo’s Student Life Center. There will be free food and refreshments and an opportunity to meet and mingle with the university’s finest coaches and athletes. Bring your families to this event that will definitely demonstrate what is best about Vulcan athletics.

As each of our Boosters will tell you, the future is bright for the student-athletes of the future, who are now in elementary, middle and high school in our community.

To all in our Big Island community: Come to a game and cheer for YOUR HOME TEAM. You will be surprised at the outstanding quality of athletics our university boasts. We are confident you will be just as proud as we are. GO VULCANS!
