The Christmas Wish Program is gearing up to provide at Easter Egg Hunt and luncheon party on April 15 for "the homeless and poverty-stricken keiki on our island," said coordinator Magin Patrick.

"Our program runs 100 percent by volunteers, which allows us to use our public support more beneficially for the keiki events," said Patrick. "With this in mind, we need you to show your kokua and volunteers."

There are lots of ways volunteers can get involved on that date or in gearing up for the event.

"If you know or are involved in a group, club, or company that would like to help us collect the needed supplies to fill baskets and eggs, please contact us for the set-up or more details.

"We also have many fundraising events scheduled for March and April in front of stores in Hilo and Kona to collect supplies needed. Three-four- hour shifts for volunteers are available Friday-Sunday.

"Our program is also in need of volunteers to help on April 15, setting up and playing activities or serving food to the keiki. We are also looking for entertainment and outside activities to add to our games and crafts to entertain the keiki during this two-hour event.

"Please call with your ideas, we'd love to have you join the Easter events and help provide these keiki with a wonderful day," said Patrick.
