Martin F. Bartolome, 95, of Pahoa died June 21 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Banna Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired worker for the former Puna Sugar Co., self-employed papaya farmer and member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Friday (Aug. 17) at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 18) at the church. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei welcome. Burial at the church cemetery. Shirley Geraldine Buyuan, 82, of Pahala died Aug. 7 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Kapapala, she was a retired custodian for Ka‘u High School and Pahala Elementary School and member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Elsie Sidiaren Correa, 81, of Hilo died July 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Flavian and Veneranda Sidiaren, co-founders of the Historic Kayumangi of Honomu, where her work experience began. She was also a retired waitress at Ken’s House of Pancakes, formerly employed at Hilo Drugs, Dick’s Coffee House, Jimmy’s Drive Inn and Sumida Restaurant and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 16) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by brothers, Garlan D. Jean Hiroko Gokan Higa, 83, of Hilo died July 15 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Lihue, Kauai, she was a homemaker and retired elementary school teacher. Private services held.
