Canoe paddling: Aunty Maile is missed at Kailana regatta as Kai Opua wins again

HOLLYN JOHNSON/Tribune-Herald Kai Opua's girls 14 crew – Kamai Malakaua, Mele Spencer, Eleina Hayward, Kahina Benbouzid-Hewitt, Aulike Kaiawe, Shauntae Hardy – remained undefeated during Saturday's regatta at Hilo Bay.

The beach was packed again Saturday at Hilo Bay, though there was certainly room for one more. Something was missing, and it wasn’t Kai Opua’s mojo.
