Trollers ready to start season
Hilo Trollers will hold a public/membership meeting from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Office of Aging Conference Room, 1055 Kinoole St in Hilo.
Trollers always welcomes new members, new boats and spectators at weigh-ins, and the offshore fishing club will hold tournaments on the following dates: April 8, May 6, June 3, July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 1-2.
Weigh-ins are held in the afternoon at Suisan, and membership forms, entry forms and tournament rules are available at S. Tokunaga Store, J. Hara Store and Boat House Hawaii.
Entries must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the Friday before each tournament.

Free youth golf clinics
The Aloha Section PGA and the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association will hold a junior golf day for ages 5-18 on March 24 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course and Hualalai Golf Course.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. with a free golf clinic from 9-11:30 a.m. Visit www.hsjga.org to sign up.
Brantley Center golf benefit
Brantley Center, Inc. will be holding its 40th annual golf tournament April 22 at Waikoloa Village Golf Course.
The entry fee of $125 includes green fees, three mulligans, door prizes and a luncheon. A hole-in-one wins $10,000.
Check-in is at 7:15 a.m. for an 8 a.m. shot-gun start in a two-person best-ball format.

HI-PAL boxing season opens
The Hawaii Police Department’s Hawaii Isle Police Activities League will open its boxing season at 5 p.m. March 24 at Kealakehe High School.
The free HI-PAL Boxing Program targets youth ages 8-17, who are interested in an organized, full-contact sport.

Volleyball clinic at Hilo Civic
Former Stanford women’s volleyball coach John Dunning will conduct a players/coaches clinic Saturday-Monday at UH-Hilo.
The coaches clinic Saturday and Sunday runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
The players clinic on Saturday and Sunday runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for setters only and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for all skills.
The Sunday clinic runs from 9 a.m. to noon for all skills and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for setters only and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for all skills.
Coaches clinic cost is $45 for both days. Setters only clinic, including all skills portion, is $75. All skills only clinic is $65.
For BIIF coaches, the clinic is free to all athletic directors and coaches association member schools.
