Solomon James Perkins, 81, of Ocean View died Feb. 15 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Kealakekua, he was a self-employed building contractor, boat builder, commercial fisherman and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Scattering of ashes 11 a.m. Sunday (March 18) at Honokohau Boat Harbor in Kailua-Kona. Celebration of life to follow at the mooring site of the fishing boat “Vixen.” Casual attire; loose flowers welcome. Survived by companion, Louise Nobriga of Ocean View; son, Paul Crawford of Seattle; daughter, Rachael Llanes of Captain Cook; caregiver, Diana Masuda of Ocean View; brothers, Charles (Pat) Perkins of Kaneohe, Oahu, Levi (Lynette) Perkins of Holualoa, William (Marcy) Perkins of Kailua-Kona and Robert Perkins of Kealakehe; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
