No lead was safe for UH-Hilo’s baseball team Saturday, not in the middle of game and not even in the ninth.

Biola rallied to sweep a doubleheader at Wong Stadium, setting the tone in the first game when Ryan Gallegos hit a two-run home run in the ninth to spoil Dylan Spain’s gem in a 2-1 win.

RJ Romo hit a two-run double to help stake the Vulcans (5-7, 1-3 Pacific West Conference) to a three-run lead in the first inning of the second game, but the Eagles (12-4, 6-2) struck for seven runs in the middle innings to win 9-5.

Jacob Portaro hit a two-run homer and finished with five RBIs for Biola, which took three of four in the series.

Romo had five hits and three RBIs on the day. Spain struck out 12 in eight innings.
