Valentine (Val) Kapiolani Gonsalves Sr., 63 of Hilo died Feb. 8 at Hawaii Care Choices’ Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Born in Maile, Oahu, he owned V & D Roofing and Construction Co. Custis R. Green Jr., 95, died Feb. 27 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was a World War II veteran and former prisoner of war, a pianist, singer, member of DAV Puna Chapter No. 9, Haili Kumiai, St. Lucia National Trust and St. Lucia Naturalist Society and former member of Unitarian Roundtable and First United Protestant Church.
