Cold start dooms ’Bows

The road woes continued for Hawaii, which produced its worst first-half of the season and fell hard to UC Davis 70-59 on Thursday at Davis, Calif.

The Aggies led 36-21 at halftime, and the Rainbow Warriors couldn’t overcome that 15-point deficit.

UH (16-12, 7-8 Big West) shot just 32 percent (7 of 22) in the first half and converted at 46 percent (12 of 26) in the second half.

Mike Thomas scored 13 points, Gibson Johnson 12, and Jack Purchase had 11 points for the Warriors, who play at Cal State Fullerton (17-10, 10-5) on Saturday in their regular-season finale.

Wazzu done

USC eliminated Washington State 47-44 in the first round of the Pac-12 women’s tournament on Thursday at Seattle.

WSU sophomore guard Chanelle Molina, a 2016 Konawaena graduate, scored six points, grabbed two rebounds, and had three assists and one steal in 29 minutes.

For the season, Molina averaged 7.7 points per game. Her sister Celena Jane Molina, a 2017 Konawaena grad, redshirted.

Nike McClure scored 12 points to lead the Cougars (10-20, 3-14), who shot 39 percent and were outrebounded 40-32.

Minyon Moore scored 16 points to lead the Trojans (20-10, 9-0).
