Highway 190 in West Hawaii reopened Sunday evening, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.

The road was closed at Makalei and Daniel K. Inouye Highway due to a brush fire.

The decision to open the highway was made by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and Wildlife.

According to an aerial survey Sunday morning, the fire has burned an estimated 900 to 930 acres.
