Nora Yasuko James, 87, of Hilo died Dec. 26 at home. Born in Lahaina, Maui, she was a retired secretary to the late Honolulu Mayor Frank Fasi, previously secretary to the late industrialist Henry J. Kaiser, stenographer for Hawaii County Council, golfer, horse enthusiast, taiko drummer and member of New Hope Hilo, Hilo Orchid Club and Lower Kawailani Kumiai. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 11) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by stepson, Roger Lopes James III of Kohala; stepdaughter, Mearl “Vernie” Cooper of Waikoloa; sister-in-law, Faye Sakaino of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. JoEllen Heath Padilla, 74, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 1 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Oakland, Calif., she was a business owner, artist and published author. Private service. Survived by sons, Chris (Michelle) Holmes of California and Kimo Spalding of Kailua-Kona; sister, Jaye (Joe Marks) Heath of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren; a nephew. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.

Blackburn L. Snow, 84, of Waimea died Jan. 31 in Waimea. Born in South Central Los Angeles, he was a builder and humanist, who spent his adult life in Hawaii. No services. Survived by many loved ones. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.
