Jonah Hurney scored 16 points and Javan Perez finished with 12 Thursday night as Ka Makani went on the road to defeat Honokaa 54-43 to tie the Dragons atop the BIIF Division II boys basketball standings.
Matija Vitorovic added 11 for HPA (5-2), which led throughout, extending a four-point halftime lead to 40-28 entering the fourth quarter.
Kamuela Spencer Herring posted 16 points for Honokaa, which had a five-game winning streak snapped. Gene Ansagay and Kieran Lo had 10 apiece for the Dragons in a game that was orignally scheduled for last Saturday but was postponed by wet floor conditions.
Kealakehe 74, Hilo 59: Bryton Lewi and Lewko Lai scored 16 points apiece for the Waveriders, who broke away in the third quarter at the Vikings’ gym for their fifth win in a row.
Tito Cabico finished with 12 for Kealakehe, which led 36-32 at halftime and outscored the Vikings 21-9 in the third quarter.
Kealakehe (6-3) moved all alone into fourth place in Division I ahead of Keaau, which the Waveriders beat Tuedsay.
The Vikings (4-5) lost for the fourth time in five games, though their schedule gets easier.
Also, Waiakea and Konawaena both won at home to remain tied for second in D-I at 7-2.
The Warriors beat Parker 59-24 and the Wildcats downed Laupahoehoe 66-25.
