Paul James Hideo Matsumoto, M.D., 85, of Hilo died Dec. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired surgeon, a U.S. Navy lieutenant and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Aloha Choir. Rosary 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 9) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Wake service at 7 p.m. Rosary again 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 10) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Eulogy at 10 a.m. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. No carnations, please, and no koden (monetary gifts).
