Born in Hilo, he was a retired pin setter for the former Hilo Lanes, butcher for Keaau Slaughterhouse and the former Miko Meats, roofer with Honolulu/Hilo Pacific Roofing and Flooring, Hawaii Protective Agency security guard, U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of Hawaiian Bowling Club and other bowling leagues. George “Charlie” Charles Clifton, 63, of Pahoa died Dec. 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hollywood, Calif., he was the owner of the former Kapiolani Mules on Oahu and big-wave and tow-in surfer.
