HPA to cheer at Holiday Bowl

Hawaii Prep’s cheerleaders will be among the squads performing during the halftime show of the Holiday Bowl on Thursday in San Diego.

According to a school release, cheerleading recently returned to HPA after being on a hiatus since the mid-80s.

“The girls have been working tirelessly with the cheer coaches at this routine,” coach MJ Allison said in a release. “They’re very excited and honored to have been chosen to take part in this special, once-in-a-lifetime event. The cheer team has been practicing since Thanksgiving and are feeling really good about their performance.”

The nine-member squad also will participate in “America’s Largest Balloon Parade,” at the Port of San Diego Parade on Thursday morning.

The game matches Washington State against Michigan State at 4 p.m. from San Diego County Credit Union Stadium.
