The Alzheimer’s Association will present two lectures and a movie Saturday, Jan. 23, at Tutu’s House in Waimea.
The first presentation at 9 a.m. is titled “What Is Dementia,” which reviews dementia, the symptoms, warning signs, misconceptions and potential treatments. The workshop will include short videos of people with the disease, family members of people with dementia and various professionals.
At 11 a.m., Ridley will show the movie “Still Alice” starring Julianne Moore as Alice Howland, a happily married mother of three grown children and a renowned linguistics professor who receives a diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
At 1 pm, the topic will be “Communication and Behaviors in Dementia.” This workshop provides information on possible causes and types of behaviors that might arise during the course of dementia as well as potential interventions.
