Donald “Buddy” Howard Brandt, 88, of Hilo died Dec. 18 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired finance comptroller for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., had worked for HELCO and the former Wailuku, Olokele and Hilo sugar companies, was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Young Men’s Institute Francis Council No. 573, and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 6, 2016). Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Homelani Memorial Park Mausoleum. Casual attire. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Memorial donations to Hospice of Hilo, Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society. Survived by wife, Barbara S. Brandt of Hilo; son, Dean H. Brandt of Volcano; daughters, Lori A. Rose Nathewitch, 94, of Kapoho died Dec. 26 at home. Born in Baltimore, she was a homemaker. Services in Baltimore.
